It was massive.
hats off to the PCC dudes for organising such a monster event so smoothly.
1st stage was more of a 90% push a bike through traffic ensnarled single track with the masses of riders from the starting line. Riders with different abilities and different riding manners stopping right in the middle of the trail when others are pedalling didn't help...
2nd stage was warm up for most after hopping on the bike for the first time after all the pushing.
3rd stage was hot, long, torturous and did i say hot?
i ran out of water at the very start.. so the entire third stage was doomed from the start for me. thanks to Andrewawi for pushing me.. (I would've given up and let the circling vultures finish me off there and then.. BTW, they were vultures dude... maybe i was hallucinating... again...)
A warong near the 3rd check point made a killing when all the riders stopped there for drinks and food..)
didnt meet the cut-off time for stage 4..so had to take the chicken route home ..(another 8km of cycling back to finishing line)
quite a few fakawis won the lucky draw..
HYH won a proton bike
jun won a roadie frame
allenawi won a lube
fakawis from Muar won like 5 major prizes including a hamper...
hope you guys enjoyed your PCC ride.. i enjoyed it thoroughly. |

i enjoyed the 1st and 2nd loop very much. although in the first loop, it was alot of pushing uphill as it was like major traffic jam at federal highway....
but downhill singletrack was fast, smooth and sweet!!! worth it...
2nd loop, rideable uphill, but some section oso pushed, same, ended with a nice singletrack.
3rd loop, torturous.... uphill, uphill and uphill... worst of all, no water.... :smt010
didn't expect it to be so long, but seems the trails just won't end, lucky that there is this warong (packed with riders, of course) just appear out of no where (oasis in the middle of the desert)... fill up the stomach and quench our thirst :smt016 , back on the road again....
then we're taking the chicken lope home... 8km seems like 20km in blazing hot sun...
was in time for the lucky draw as well, hehe, got a specialized glove... :smt005
xtc got a pack of realpower iso drink too...
but it was jun lucky day for getting first a t-shirt, then a proton roadie frame... |

I won a bottle of lube as well, chiefy! :-)
For those of you who didn't 'get' to do loop 4, consider yourselves lucky... Well, there was a really sweet downhill at the end, but the climb up the hill before that was (in my opinion) so totally NOT worth it!!
Finally dragged myself to the finish line at about somewhere past 3pm... Thankfully no cramps, had lots of gel and food and water... :-)
Great ride, but lots tougher than last year's, due to the extra hills that came up. Some of the downhills were really nice, esp the one in the rubber estate that went all the way down into the bottom of the valley and straight up again, that was super technical and sweet!!! |

It was a great ride, quite torturing especially 3rd stage. Like everybody else, was a little dehyrdated, out of water and I camped lot of times during this stage. Very exchausted and feel like quiting.
On the first stage it was terrible for me, first lots of pushing uphill cause of the bottle neck and lots of different people manners, like chief said. quite very bad manners too. I had my first major fall at the end of the single track cemented downhill, where I hit a small rock and lost control and fall towards the bottom of the ditch. Was quite a fall and causes a deep cut at my knee, i believe chief has a picture of it. I have to stop 30 minutes at that point for the blood to stop flowing, my entire leg below knee was red blooded.
Reach checkpoint one and first thing I do was to have the st.john people to check on my knee. 15 minutes for that and fill up my water and continue on. Knee was giving a hard time as I keep stretching the wound while pedalling. Overall 2nd stage was a very smooth ride.
2nd stage checkpoint, had a refill and my bandage came out so I had it done again. The 3rd stage route was terrible, lots of up and up hills. more pushing than riding, some uphills are unrideable. I had lot of stop to rest myself during this stage. The sucking thing is the chain suck. By this time, my gears and chain is giving problem already. Thank god I met Leong from KSH, he lubed my chain and then the rest of the trip we ride together.
Before reaching the 3rd checkpoint, yes there is a warong out of no where!!! IT was like heaven, had coconut drink there and continue towards the checkpoint.
At the 3rd checkpoint, i had never have such watermelons before! ITs just so thirst crunching and sweet. Oh my god. The best watermelon I had.
Eventually the change the stage 4 as chicken loop which we are force to take. So me, Leong and another fella just ride back to the finish line.
Stay up for the lucky draw but didn't win anything. But congrrates to HYH and JUN!!! HYH got a complete proton bike and Jun got a proton road bike frame. My friend Isaac got himself a carton of realpower drinks.
I would say the ride has some smooth tracks and some technical ones that almost similar to Kiara trails. Crossing the river was fun and was a great break to cool down our body.
Other things I should mention, I heard someone broken his finger and had to send to the hospital.
I had fun, and was a personal great achievement to finish the PCC for me. |

Pushed (actually more like dragging) my bike for about 5km to checkpoint #2 and got bailed out, after rear derailleur got stuck in the spokes, and ripped off the RD and about 8 spokes out of the rim... the worse RD carnage...more lessons learnt...
Why Did My Rear Derailleur Go Into My Spokes? : http://mountainbike.about.com/od/basicbikemaintenance/f/Der_to_spokes.htm
I really enjoyed riding loop 1 and 2/3rd of loop 2. With some nice technical Kiaralike downhill too. I got worked out pretty well with the nice trails and sceneries... but at the beginning part, it's no fun being in traffic jam on any vehicle.
Thanks to the guy who borrowed his multitool/plier to me, and those who ride along & passing words of encouragement. A few even came down his bike to walk along with me for while...
The look of 600 over riders starting off was awesome too...

Good idea dude! maybe I'll carry spare of the whole set .... probably I'll even go for on-the-road-rear-derailleur-repair certification too... I was taught by the best...eh joeadnan?
Now I just need to learn how to avoid getting into the same problem again...preride RD checks and more checks during ride breaks will be my new habit now... |

what can i say but it's one ubba sweet event...thanks to pcc and Volunteers for making this a truly awesome event.
tons of riders, and Mud galore too. i was pacing so as not to blow out and making good time at both check-points. stg 3 was where heat and humidity finally managed to take it out on me. note to myself---comeback earlier to acclimatize. one week yesterday---i was bombing down through snow covered tracks, n *&%$ was freezin. yesterday mud and heat and £%$&$ fried. so no worries chief glad to be of help as my body was already sooo confused.
also, thanks to both jason tan (senior) and stan in guiding my way to the event spot. i would have driven somewhere else if it was not for them. |
