September 30, 2005 Product Review: Purchased at: Bicycle Pro, Georgetown, Washington DC
Comments: After initial apprehension at purchasing this particular unit for a variety of reasons, I must admit that I am rather pleased with it one year on. Two main issues had put me off. Firstly the cost of any decent light package would make one reconsider the sanity of night riding off road. Secondly, several reviews of this particular model were not encouraging, especially with complains of sudden power cut-offs, usually when bombing down trails, leaving you totally in darkness and the in the hands of the mtb Gods! After at least 10 outings through autumn/winter, I have not experienced any such problems. Durability is also top notched, with no problems arising from riding in the wet or snow. The unit has also survived a few crashes. The only minor gripe I have is with the total burn time, especially on full beam, of about 2 hours. Ideal for commuting (too expensive for this sole use) or the short spin in the woods before or after work. A definite no-no for night time epics.
