Dim lights

Trail Notes is a collection of stories capturing the lifestyles of passionate mountainbikers from the Southern Hemisphere Mecca of Rotorua New Zealand and the infamous trails of the Whakarewarewa forest. The film follows four unique individuals and showcases their stories of how mountainbiking captivated their lives and what has drawn them to the sport and the intoxicating location of the forest. Each of these interconnected stories creates a tapestry of the local scene that mimics the winding trails. These stories of personal battles, commitment and passion to the sport of mountainbiking, illustrate both the individual and collective culture that these trails breed.

You may or may not be aware that I have left Malaysia for a while. (And depending on how long you've been involved with the MTB scene, you may or may not even know who I am, or care). Regardless, I would like to take a moment to thank those of you who have made the last 9 years a very special time in my life, and to leave all of you with some parting thoughts.

There is a danger to naming names because if I inadvertently miss any of you you may get the idea that you didn't make a difference to me, and that is just not so. So if you ever set a Bash, put in a year as a KLMBH or TRAKS committee member, adopted a trail (and actually did some work on it) or joined a TRAKS trail day you made a difference to me, though I may not mention your name here. And if you were one of the following people you were something more, way beyond ordinary, and you have a special place in my heart because of it. Joe Adnan, Huang Ying How, Nick Ong, Stan Ng, Yong Foo Chuen, Melody Tan, Adele Chia, Steve Flintstone, Tan Boon Foo, Phil Bee, Derald Cook, Mike Tighe, Simon Jeffrey, Scott Roberts, Olivier Falcoz, any body with the last name of Stapleton or Moir. If I asked for help, all you asked was when and where. If I asked for blood, you only asked how much. It's people like you that are the heart of a community because you understand that you have to put in to get something back.

  • Bukit Kiara under threat!!
    Bukit Kiara under threat!!

The Fences at Bukit Kiara are up. It is disturbing to note that half of Bukit Kiara belongs to private owners. The key question is whether the private owners will now take steps to commercialize their side of the fence. Since Bukit Kiara has been designated a green lung, the private owners should display magnanimity by not developing their side of the fence.
We cannot imagine a situation where walkers and joggers have to bear with the noise, pollution and clatter coming from the condos, shopping malls, etc just next to the jogging trail.
Can we continue to enjoy the peace, quiet and tranquility of Bukit Kiara? Not if the private owners develop their land.
This video is to heighten the awareness of the public who use the jogging trail at Bukit Kiara of what is going on and urge them not to support any move to develop the land on the other side of the fence. Pl support us by forwarding the link of this video to your friends. Tq

  • Downhill Biking with X-Biking Chiangmai
    Downhill Biking with X-Biking Chiangmai

Most of us frequently complained that we don't have the time to ride and when we actually get the time to ride, it is always way too short.

Now that changed after last weekend when the Fakawi bikers, that is to say Chief and I, got a chance to visit X-Biking Chiangmai.

We flew in in the morning and got from the airport to the hotel in less than an hour. We can't even complain about our flight as there are people who took the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiangmai just to ride. That is a dead giveaway that this place has got something special to offer.
