Wireless Bicycle Brake#15747 1 year, 7 months agoScienceDaily (Oct. 13, 2011) — Computer scientists at Saarland University developed a wireless bicycle brake and demonstrated its efficiency on a so-called cruiser bike. Furthermore, they confirmed the brake system's reliability through mathematical calculations that are also used in control systems for aircraft or chemical factories. Reaching 99.999999999997 Percent Safety... read more here: Sciencedaily

Oh man...this is way too funny. Pressure sensor grips? So...basically no control over braking at hairy sections. But wait, this is not for mountainbikes. It's for cruisers...so...hit a speedbump BRAKE, pothole BRAKE, bumpy roads BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE. I wonder if they actually measured the different pressures exerted on the grip by the riders hands under different riding conditions before coming up with this idea to trigger the brake.
And wireless? Heheh, imagine being able to hack into the signal and have control over somebody else's brakes? Now, if only someone would come up with a suspension system using the levitation properties of opposing forces in magnets. Think of the possibilities...no oil lubrication, no seals, no coil. Mmmmm...science. |
