Great pictures you took there nutnadz! Post a lot of items online..?

Just looking at it, and not knowing the market price right now, I would say they're likely original. Barring maybe being over/under priced. The weaving looks good (assuming you know it is really carbon fibre and not a painted on pattern), the decals look (and write) authentic, down to the graining on the stem clamp area. If it is also genuinely light, that would confirm it even more. Again, the price could be a hit or miss as I'm totally behind on the parts market now.

As for your question on newbies getting scammed; yes, it happens more often than it should. But mostly due to inexperience. The local shops are likely to mark-up their items and newbies are more likely to not know good street prices (or better sources) of items. So I wouldn't really call it a scam. But beware, the secondhand buy/sell community does have it's fair share of opportunist, though mostly it's honest and regular sellers. My advice for all newcomers, do good research and get a more experienced person's opinion on items and prices.

Longwinded yes, but I hope it helped you and other newcomers out there.

That trail that shortcuts from the (Sungai-runs-thru) Pondok to Bar-a-kuda still runs across the bulldozed area. As you come from the Pondok, find the rest of the trail about 70 meters down to the left of the bulldozed path.

Asking an excavator operator; he said the path will run straight all the way to the new fencing line. Him I bumped into on the I.U.D side of the trails last Saturday.

  • All great points by Chief, RIza, and Pandora.

I for one would vote for the more versatile XC/trail bike over a HT in your position. The full-suss would be most useable, most of the time. But be warned, they almost always come with issues that a HT is without. Like more frequent maintenance (if you want a bike that last long enough), likelihood of suspension problems, parts resourcing (maybe not now, but 3 years down the line when that shop has closed..?). The rear shock itself, believe me, is another topic in itself.

With all that said, as long as you have upkeep and maintenance (and fingers crossed), I would still assuredly recommend the full-suss. As long as its a good all-rounder (XC/trail) bike, it's likely to be the one you can enjoy most, for most of your rides. This will make it all worthwhile. The carbon HT will ride almost everything also, I assure you. But maybe you will like more confidence, experience, strength and control that you might not need with a flexible 'do-it-all' full-suss.

It all still comes down to the rider right; what is physically possible for you, what you're willing to do, what you regularly do, etc. One last thing, as long as the bike fits you, just don't be too picky and particular whichever bike you eventually choose.

Kid's helmet dinosaur chin strap! Don't recall the brand but same distributors as the JDbug kid's trainer/balance bike, and sold together usually.

I have an exact one at home, doubles as dentures.

Chief, I'm planning to have a long ride in Kiara on saturday or sunday by myself (or both days). Donuts can tag along if she wants. You have my number.

  • It was a great trailday outing. Good to see so many people out, and to have the whole trail done and rideable at the end of it all! Conditions could not have been better, dry is definitely easier on earthwork.

Thanks to everyone who was involved!

I agree with Jun, it's not appropriate here and has no relevance to biking. I vote to take it off, and no offence.
