I couldn't be bothered much with the gear steps. Range is more important in my opinion. So Red, could you hook me up with one of those custom cassettes? I promise to write a raving review with high quality pictures to garner enough demand for us to produce them commercially to the point SRAM and Shimano will be fighting to license it from us, then we'll take over the world.

  • Shit happens. As the Chief mentioned, bring it back to the shop and tell them what happened. A good bike shop would take responsibility and make good on their mistakes. With you spending quite a big chunk of your hard earned money in that shop, I'm sure they'll want to keep you as a customer. So give the bikeshop a chance to redeem themselves.

  • 22nd would work better actually. That way I can get a full work day in on Saturday, and ride on Sunday without having to worry about my phone ringing (there's still reception in Kiara trails - good thing or bad thing depending).

HEahahaha! I was just trying to make fun of the "damn mysterious" item by saying it's just some non-functional novelty junk.

Reading back...scottusa came pretty close to guessing it first.

Ahh, it certainly has been quite a while...but this Sunday is a no-go for me.

FRIM always brings out some nostalgia.

  • Jasu: Assuming that your colleague could pick you up from Mid Valley and bring you to the trails, we're pretty set for a ride. I'll have my large HT with a retro fork (READ: Girvin Rebuild ready, but still waiting for the Chief to chime in with a better rig for you.

In return, he'd probably ask for your soul. Heheh. Or maybe a pound of flesh, or a pint of blood?

FRIM and Kiara are both awesome places to ride. Kiara would be more convinient for me. I'm good for either Saturday the 21st, or Sunday 22nd. Will confirm date and location later.

Simon: Check in on this thread for updates.

  • Nice ride! It'll be hard to find a bike that would match it. But I'm just gonna assume you're like most mountainbikers with a great sense of adventure and humour, which would make riding here more pleasureable. If your colleague in KL rides in this place called Kiara, you won't be lacking of a guide/riding buddy. If he's planning to bring you elsewhere, let me know as I might be keen to tag along.

  • Greetings Jasu!

Renting might be a challenge in KL as there aren't any bike shops that I know of do that. However, there are a few largely built blokes around the tribe. Maybe someone might be willing to borrow you one. I've got a 20" GT hardtail that should fit you fine. The Chief might be able to hook you up with a better bike if we do manage to get together for a ride. He's got quite a large personality and size to match.

More importantly, which part of KL will you be staying at and do you have a car to bring yourself to the trails?
